Luxury Cars in India

Though small cars are making big news in the Indian auto industry with cars like Tata Nano, Maruti-Suzuki A-star, Toyota’s small car but the still the demand for the luxury cars have not come down. The market for luxury car is booming up gone are the days when only Raja’s and Maharajah’s owned Rolls Royce, and Mercedes. And now we can see luxury cars among the young hardworking top executive of MNC’s and a neighborhood who has a thriving business. Luxury car manufacturer are running to banks with big smiles like never before in India.

It is not just the foreign car maker’s that are rolling out luxury cars but we can also see Indian car designer Dilip Chabbria creation of luxury models. DC has re-interpreted the aristocratic Ambassador and came up with the super luxury Ambierod. It was the most expensive car costing Rs 4 crore was displayed at the 9th 2008 Auto Expo. All those super rich people who like to own a part of Ambassador will surely like buy one of them. It could be India’s answer for super luxury cars.

Amberoid is designed with sleek instrument panel integrated with a satellite navigation system, 3 LCD televisions, internet video-conferencing facility and a flat bend to sleep during long journey.

Among European car manufacturer it has traditionally been Bentley, Rolls Royce, Maybach, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Audi and Cadillac.

Bentley has shipped to India its Azure, and Continental GTC carrying the fancy price tag of 3.8 crore and 2.1 crore. The Azure can be called is a glamorous model which is mated with sophistication and class. The Continental GTC convertible offers performance, style and classic Bentley motoring technology. One can immediately feel they are driving through race circuits instead of crowded Indian lanes.

The old player’s luxury car making like BMW and Mercedes-Benz have a great competition and always challenge each other in sales performance. BMW has increased its luxury car sales target to 2000 units this year. Those are the famed BMW M cars and BMW Individual cars, and BMW 7-series.

Mercedes Benz needs no introduction in India. It has launched the super luxury CL and S class vehicles in India this year. The manufacturer of Mercedes vehicles- Daimler Chrysler plans to sell 3000 units in 2008 only.

We are already seeing several of these cars on streets already. Unlike earlier the luxury cars are affordable in India. it has become a style statement not just among the younger crowd but also in older generation.
